Mix Library

A phone‑native home for a private archive of DJ mixes.

Mix Library turns a private web archive of DJ mixes and radio programs into a native iPhone and iPad app. Mixes keep playing with the screen off, resume where you left off, and come with their tracklists, so the question “what was that track?” finally has a good answer.

Listening

Long mixes, played properly.

Some of these mixes run three hours. The app is built around that: playback never depends on keeping the screen on, and nothing makes you start over.

Background playback
Keeps playing with the screen locked, with controls on the Lock Screen and in Control Center.
Picks up where you stopped
Every mix remembers its own position.
AirPlay
Sends audio to speakers and to an Apple TV.
Preview without interrupting
Opening another mix shows its details without stopping the one that is playing.

Tracklists

Two lists, honestly labeled.

Many mixes have two tracklists that are wrong in opposite ways. Rather than pick one, the app shows both and says which to trust for what.

Detected
Times measured from the audio are exact, though names are sometimes wrong.
Published
Track names are right, but some rows may have no time.

Every screen shows sample data: the titles, artists, tracklists and covers were invented for this page.

Bookmarks

For “what was that?”

A mark is a note to your future self about one moment in one mix.

Lands where you meant
The mark is placed 15 seconds before your tap, because the moment has usually already passed.
Shows the neighbors
Each mark lists the track playing then, plus the one before and after.
Notes
Add a line of text to any mark.
On every device
Marks are kept with your account, so they appear on each device you sign in on. Other listeners cannot see them.

The library

The archive’s own shape.

Thousands of hours of mixes, organized the way the archive organizes them and carried over to native screens.

How it works

A window onto the archive.

Mix Library is a window onto an archive that lives somewhere else. You sign in once with a passphrase, and from then on the app streams mixes from the archive.

Streams from the archive
Browsing and streaming need the archive; mixes you have downloaded play without a connection.
Downloads stay on the device
Downloaded mixes are saved on the device and appear in the Files app. They are not uploaded to iCloud.
Bookmarks follow you
Bookmarks are saved with your account on the archive, so they appear on each of your devices.
A status light
A small light shows whether the archive’s connection is healthy, so a slow evening at the other end is not mistaken for a broken app.
Native code
Written in Swift and SwiftUI, with no third‑party code. Playback controls appear wherever the system shows Now Playing.

Privacy

What stays where.

No tracking code
The app has no advertising or analytics code and no third‑party libraries.
Your passphrase
Stored in the device’s Keychain.
Your ratings
Visible to other listeners of the same archive.
Your bookmarks
Saved with your account; other listeners cannot see them.
